Oh, so you’ve completely overlooked someone you think is attractive? You’ve simply passed by anyone who is “hot/handsome/beautiful/fine” without so much as a second look. You’ve never found interest in another person because you thought they were the least bit appealing to the eye. You’ve never admired someone because of their beauty. You’ve never once worried about what others thought of you or how you looked. You’ve never spent the extra five minutes just to make sure that your hair was looking right. You’ve never once looked in a mirror to see that you looked decent before leaving the house.
Really? Well, damn, you must be a god. You must be someone that is simply above the rest of us simple human beings who give into these superficial tendencies time and again. You’re just that amazing, right? Well, I’m fully aware that looks do matter. Look in a magazine, watch television, or look outside your window and try to tell me otherwise. Tell me that supermodel on the billboard with nothing but her underwear is a figment of my imagination. Tell me that the men working out in the gym for hours at a time aren’t really there. Tell me that the girl throwing up in the bathroom is just a fluke.
So again, you want to tell me that looks don’t matter? If you do, I’ll just tell you that you’re full of it. Try and convince me that you’ve never once given two shits about what you looked like or what another looked like and I’ll tell you to save it. Stop trying to fool me and especially yourself when you say looks don’t matter. Sorry, “Mama didn’t raise no fool.”
We are all guilty of being superficial. I openly admit to it and I see no problem with it. I’ve accepted the fact that looks matter in this world. The rest of you who want to deny it just need to look around and finally face the facts too. We are all human; it’s time to get used to it.
